Russian yard output down

Production at Russia's major shipyards fell 15% in the first six months of 2010.

The ministry of industry said the negative trend was primarily associated with reduced output at Vyborg Shipyard, Baltic Shipyard, Dalzavod and Zvezdochka.

All these yards enjoyed twofold growth in the first half of 2009.

Conversely, production increased at Sevmash, Krasniye Barrikady, Okskaya, Admiralty, Krasnoye Sormovo and Yaroslavl.

Admiralty of St Petersburg completed an ice-class tanker and is working on another, while Krasnoye has delivered two small tankers, with two more under construction.

Okskaya handed over two tankers to an overseas client, and is building another 6,600-dwt ship.
