ONGC takes Garware PSV

India’s Garware Offshore Services has secured a $5m contract for an offshore vessel from a compatriot energy giant.

State-owned Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has signed for another year with a platform supply vessel (PSV) it already has on a short-term deal.

The 5,450-bhp Kailash (built 2006) is earning Garware INR 225m ($4.94m) for the 12 months, the owner wrote in a bourse announcement in Mumbai on Tuesday.

ONGC had earlier fixed the India-flagged vessel from January to March at $15,585 per day.

TradeWinds reported last month that the energy company was looking to award long-term charter contracts for 13 offshore vessels in the next few weeks (ONGC looking to long-term charter 13 units).

ONGC officials said at the time, the proposed line-up includes three 80-tonne-bollard-pull anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels for three years, six PSVs of between 4,000 bhp and 5,500 bhp also for three years and four PSVs of 3,000 bhp for one year.

Garware was joined by compatriots Great Eastern Shipping, Great Offshore, Varun Shipping and Shipping Corp of India amongst names in the running for contracts. Also mooted to be in with a shout were Singaporean owner Pacific Richfield Marine and ABG Shipyard subsidiary PFS Shipping.
