Barents boost

Hyundai Heavy Industries has scored a $1.2bn FPSO deal with Statoil Petroleum and Eni Norge.

The world’s largest shipbuilder will construct the circular unit for use in the Barents Sea.

In a statement, ENI says the NOK 6.9bn ($1.16bn) contract covers the engineering, construction and commissioning of the FPSO in the Goliat field.

The order comes just days after TradeWinds reported HHI was cutting back capacity after failing to secure a commercial shipbuilding contract for over 12 months.

As part of a reshuffle it has resume offshore construction at its Ulsan site having previously used the space to build merchant ships during the boom.
