V.Group fills void

V.Group has hired defence and security specialist Clive Richardson as its new CEO.

Richardson, who was previously COO of defence technology firm QinetiQ, will replace Donald Anderson who quit last summer.

V.Group chairman David Hoare has filled the seat on an interim basis and will now return to being non-executive chairman of the company, explains Roberto Giorgi, president of V.Group’s shipmanagement operation, V.Ships.

Giorgi says the company has opted to recruit from outside the shipping sphere as it feels it has more than enough maritime expertise.

“It’s always good to have new blood with new ideas,” he said.
