Emergency preparedness questioned after authorities detain a panamax bulker in the port of Baltimore.
French cross-Channel ferry operator LD Lines is widening its route network with a new run from Dover in the UK to Dieppe in France.

The launch will take place in February using the 18,400–gt Seven Sisters (built 2006), which can cross in four and a half hours carrying 52 trucks, 300 cars and 600 passengers.
LD boss Christophe Santoni told reporters: “Freight and tourist customers will be saving 250km drive time by using this service compared to driving to western France from the short sea channel ports."
Earlier this summer it was reported that LD was starting a new freight and passenger service to Boulogne, France, from Dover.
LD Lines already runs ships between Portsmouth and Le Havre, plus a seasonal service from Newhaven to Le Havre and from Newhaven to Dieppe, in conjunction with sister company Transmanche Ferries.
The company was formed in 2005 when HD Ferries teamed with Louis Dreyfus to launch a service between Portsmouth and Le Havre.
