Norway’s Fred Olsen Energy has won a three-year charter contract for one of its semi-submersible drilling rigs.

Statoil has chartered the 108.2 metre-long Bideford Dolphin (built 1975) in a contract worth $421m, according to an announcement published today.

The contract is expected to start in the first quarter of 2011, when the vessel will begin work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
As TradeWinds reported earlier today, Statoil awarded a four-year $394M contract to John Fredriksen's Seadrill for a jack-up drilling rig. (click HERE to read the article)
