The 19,400-dwt Chemstar Eagle (ex-Chemical Venture, built 2000) has gone to undisclosed US buyers, brokers said Friday.
The Shin Kurushima-built vessel meets the description of a tanker - the MTM Westport - that was recently added to the website of MT Maritime Management. The Westport-based bulker and chemical tanker player purchased two similar vessels from Iino Kaiun last year.
An MT Maritime representative could not be immediately reached for comment Friday afternoon.
Iino, which lists a fleet of 116 tankers and bulkers, is earning less in the Chemstar Eagle sale than in previous transactions.
TradeWinds reported in June MT Maritime bought the 19,500-dwt chemical tanker MTM Fairfield (ex-Chemstar Hero, built 2002) for $17.5m.
Earlier in the year, the Connecticut owner bought the 19,400-dwt MTM Princess (ex-Chemstar Princess, built 1999) for $16m.
MT Maritime now lists a fleet of six chemical tankers, in addition to its chartered-in bulk carriers.
