Danny F II sinks

An elderly livestock carrier has sunk off the coast of Lebanon in rough weather with 64 people reportedly still missing.

The 14,823-dwt Danny F II (built 1976) is said to have capsized 17km off Tripoli on Thursday evening.

Reports say at least 19 people have been rescued, but the search was continuing for the remaining 64 who were believed to have been aboard.

The Panamanian-flagged vessel was said to be transporting around 43,000 sheep from Uruguay to Tartours in Syria.

The Danny F II is owned by Egyptian-based company Royal Logistics Services.
