Azov blaze

A Turkish-managed cargoship has been badly damaged by a fire outside the Russian port of Azov.

The blaze broke out on the 5,000-dwt general cargo vessel Vanadiy (built 1983) while it was anchored off the port on 12 December.

The fire destroyed half of the ship's superstructure, but cargo was reported undamaged, Russian media said.

The vessel is managed by Vassilev Maritime Nakliyat of Istanbul and has no port state control detentions dating back to 2003.
