A Somali pirate has been shot during a failed attempt to hijack an Eagle Bulk supramax in the Gulf of Aden, TradeWinds has learned.
The pirate was hit in the leg as a security team on board the 53,100-dwt Avocet (built 2010) fought off the attack, sources say.
It is the latest drama for the ship, which is understood to have been one of the Eagle Bulk vessels forced to find alternative work following the financial difficulties at Korea Line Corp.
